Winston Chong passed away in Toronto on July 7, 2026 at the age of 93. He was born in Canton, China and emigrated to Trinidad when he was just a teenager. He later made his way to Canada where he spent his retirement years.
Winston married the love of his life, Christine, in Trinidad, where they raised four children. Winston and Christine owned a local grocery shop and were well liked by the community. He strongly believed in giving back to those less fortunate and passed on this teaching to his children. He was an avid swimmer, and Sunday afternoons were reserved for trips to the beach with the family.
Winston was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alexander (Patricia). He is survived by his wife, Christine, children Pamela (Gary), Anne (Kirby), Karen (Dave) and Carlton (Slavka), grandchildren Cameron (Natassja) Maddy and niece Amy (Gary), great-nieces Grace, Rose, and great-nephew Alexander.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 12, 2026 at 1pm at Highland Hills Funeral Home & Crematorium, 12492 Woodbine Avenue, Gormley, Ontario. Come dressed as you are – Winston will not be in a suit! We’re sure he’s laughing down on us saying “Sorry for you!”
