With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ian Chai, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He left us on Wednesday April 16th at the age of 80 after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Ian was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments when he passed peacefully in his sleep.

Ian is survived by his wife Eleanor, sons Austin and Sheldon and grandchildren Andrew, Kayla and Tia. He also leaves behind his sister June and brother David. Ian is preceded in death by his daughter Michelle and son Brian.

Ian was a retired watchmaker and jeweller who was an avid fisherman that cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, generosity, and unconditional love. He showed his love through his passion for cooking, his dedication to supporting his family, and in small moments of laugher at little jokes. Ian’s passing leaves behind an incredible void. He will be fondly remembered by family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Soon Lee, a devoted husband, father, and friend, who departed this life on December 20, 2024 at the age of eighty-three.

Known affectionately as “Pops”, Pops was the beloved husband of Jeannie, with whom he shared a life filled with love and unwavering partnership. He was a proud and caring father to his two daughters, Jennifer (Chris) and Colleen, who were the light of his life.

Born in Malaysia, Pops later spent years living in Trinidad and Tobago, New York City and finally, Toronto where he settled with Jeannie and raised his two girls.

A man of quiet strength and determination, Pops will be remembered for his smile, kind heart, steadfast dedication to his family, and his ability to bring warmth and comfort to those around him. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.

Pops lived his life the best he knew and left this earth wishing that his children will continue to find joy and safety in this world. While their hearts mourn the loss, they take comfort knowing he is now with Mom and their beloved dog, Charlie.

The family of Pops wishes to thank the team of 4D at Scarborough Health Network – Birchmount Hospital and the Palliative Care team at Toronto Grace Health Centre for their compassion, support and care for Pops. The family also wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Baggeley family for their support of Pops and Mom over the years. Their generosity will always be appreciated.
