A new Scholarship program will be started at the THC2016 (Toronto Hakka Conferance 2016 )and I need to inform all my members about it.In fact,only children of sponsoring and partner organizations of the THC 2016 are eligible to apply.Financial aid of $1,500 is offered for one year to selected students who are graduating high school and have been accepted at college or university.So far, three scholarships have been pledged and named for Chai, Lee and Lowe.Application forms can be found on the website www.torontohakkaconferance.com and must be filled out and returned with supporting documents by May 31.Winners will be announced by June15th.
The Fui Toong On Association is pleased to announce our line up of social and cultural activities and events planned for 2016, the year of the Monkey.
- Canada Day – Friday, July 1 The Fui Toong On Society will once again join with the other local Chinese Societies and Associations in commemorating the Chinese Railway Workers in Canada.
- Annual Picnic – Sunday, July 29 At Milliken Park ( McCowan & Steeles, Scarborough). Free admission and lunch will be served to members between 12 – 1 p.m. Activities including games and prizes for the youth and children will be held, and many wonderful prizes will be up for raffle.
- Mid Autumn Festival – Sunday September 23,2017Everyone is invited to celebrate Autumn at the Association’s centre located downtown to renew friendships with our members while enjoying a free lunch and moon cake.
- Annual Christmas & New Years Banquet – Saturday, December 16 Our annual celebration dinner will be held at the

The Fui Toong On Society Of Canada will be celebrating its 36th anniversary Christmas & New Year’s Banquet on Saturday December 13th, 2014 @ the Casa De Luz Banquet Hall located at 1570 Sandhurst Circle, Scarborough, M1v 1V2.
The reception will start at 6:00pm, dinner will be served at 7:00pm and that will be followed with dancing and a dessert table.
As usual there will be activities for the kids, live entertainment and many raffle prizes to be won. This year prizes will include an Apple iPad Air2 and much more.
The prices will be $48 for adults and $25 for children under 12 . The menu includes:

The Primary purpose is not only to reward academic excellence,but to encourage youth involvement in the Fui Toong on Society.This is a prize not a scholarship,to be awarded once and not ongoing through years of study for each recipient
Who is Eligible:
This excellence award is only open to legal residents of Canada in their province of residence and who have graduated in a publicly or privately funded Canadian High School,community College or university within the award period of time
Applicants must be an active member of Fui toong On Society,either
A) As part of a family membership if under 18 years
or
B) As an independent membership if 18 years or older.
Award Categories and Prizing:
One Cash prize will be awarded n each of the following categories :
(1) High School Graduate:$500.00CDN (Five Hundred Canadian Dollars)
(2) Community College Graduate:$750.00 (Seven Hundred and fifty Dollars)
(3) University graduate:$1000.00CdN( (One Thousand Canadian Dollars )
This award is Non-transferable and must be accepted as is.
Awards will be paid by cheque to each of the recipients.
Requirements;
(1) 90% average grade for High school
(2)85% Average grade for community college
(3)85% average grade for university.
(4)20 hours or more volunteer community service at the Fui Toong ON Society
(5)Be an active participant in the society activities

Monday, July 1 – Canada Day: The Fui Toong On Society will once again again join other Chinese societies & associations to commemorate the Chinese Railway Workers of Canada.

Saturday, December 14th – Christmas & New Years Banquet: This year the Fui Toong On Society will be celebrating its 35th anniversary. The venue will be the Monk Kok Chinese Restaurant at Kennedy road and Hwy 7. More details will be published later.
Awards Of Excellence: This award was announced at our 2012 Christmas and New Year’s Banquet and the 2013 submission deadline is September 30th, 2013. Please see page 64 of the 2012 Yearbook for the rules and regulations or visit our website for further info.
We encourage all our members, families and friends to participate in our events and activities throughout the year. Also, a reminder that the Fui Toong On Society is open on D’Arcy Street from 9:30 am to 4:00pm on Wednesday, Saturdays and Sundays.
The schedule bus trip to Casino Rama for Saturday 9th February has been cancel and will be rescheduled.

We are happy to announce that the 34th annual Fui Toong On Christmas Dinner will take place on December 15th, 2012 at the Century Palace Chinese Restaurant in Markham, Ontario.
More information about the menu and prizes will be announced soon, but for now please save the date.

- Downtown: 6:15 – 6:40 am @ 222 Spadina Avenue
- Scarborough: 6:45 – 7:00 am @ 4190 Finch Avenue (drop off is at 4440 Finch Avenue)

The busses will be leaving each location promptly, so please arrive and board before the departure time. If you still need to book your ticket please do it quickly and reserve the additional trips if necessary.
